Once again this year, all Year 9 students set off on a trip to England.
Monday, 21 September – Arrival in Hastings
On arrival day we reached Hastings and had a little time to explore the town. Afterwards,
our friendly host families picked us up and we had a light dinner together.
Tuesday, 22 September – Hastings and the Seven Sisters
Under clear blue skies, our second day began with a fascinating guided tour of Hastings
led by our local guides Robert and Jonathan, who shared anecdotes and historical insights
at many stops along the way. From the hill above the town we had a great view of the old
and new parts of Hastings and of the fishing harbour with its famous landmarks, the
black-tarred net huts. After a portion of fish and chips we headed off to the famous English
chalk cliffs, the Seven Sisters. We hiked up and down the cliffs until we reached a steel
staircase leading straight down to the beach, just as the white cliffs were bathed in the
evening light.
Wednesday, 23rd September 2026
Our Year 9 students explored London in three groups today, and the weather was fantastic! We started at Tower Hill, saw the Tower of London and walked across Tower Bridge. Next came Hay’s Galleria, the Golden Hinde, Shakespeare’s Globe and Tate Modern. The Jubilee Line took us from Southwark to Westminster, home of Big Ben and Parliament. We crossed the Blue Bridge in St James’s Park, and one group even visited Buckingham Palace! Finally, we walked through Admiralty Arch to Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.
